EastEnders' Lorraine Stanley misses the Queen Vic so much she built a bar in her house

EastEnders actress Lorraine Stanley is longing to get back to her local in Walford - so much so that she's put up a bar in her own house.

Lorraine, who plays Karen Taylor in Albert Square, laughed about her lockdown "impulse buy" as she installed her own version of the Queen Vic.

She and the rest of the cast still aren't filming amid the ongoing lockdown, but she's doing what she can to get by.

Sharing a snap with her 128,000 Instagram followers of herself leaning on the new bar, Lorraine channelled Peggy Mitchell by writing: "Get aaaaaat my pub!

"#lockdown #impulsebuy #vintage #midcentury #pub #cocktails #delboy. Can't wait to dress her!"

EastEnders, alongside Top Gear, is among the BBC flagships set to continue filming next month amid a new set of lockdown rules.

Still, the cast and crew will have to comply with the rules of social distancing, so things won't be entirely back to normal on set.

Writing in The Daily Telegraph, the Beeb's Director of Content Charlotte Moore wrote: "We're also exploring ways to re-start filming on more dramas and other major BBC shows as soon as possible."

She added: "We've been looking very carefully about how we can safely put some of our shows back into production, and I'm pleased to announce that we plan to begin filming again on both EastEnders and Top Gear by the end of next month.

"Cast members will do their own hair and makeup. Social distancing measures will be in place."

Meanwhile, the set itself is set for some major upgrades in the next couple of years as bosses decided to build a whole new set to bring Walford into the modern age - the current set used dates back to the show's beginning in 1984.

The new set, which will include a block of luxury flats and a railway line, will also be HD-ready.

"The set of EastEnders was built in 1984," a BBC statement read, "And only intended for use for two years."

It continued: "The new set will be suitable for HD filming for the first time and extend Walford to better reflect modern East End London."
