EastEnders lines up surprise romance as Mel Owen and Max Branning kiss

EastEnders’ Mel Owen and Max Branning share a shock kiss next week, amid her plans to take down his brother Jack.

Mel blames Jack for her son Hunter going to prison, after he was charged over the murder of his stepfather Ray Kelly.

Ray kidnapped him and tried to murder mum Mel on their wedding day, leading to Hunter shooting him.

Mel tried to help Hunter flee Walford, only for Jack to thwart the plans and Hunter was sent to prison.

With his sentencing looming, Mel is anxious but turns her focus back to Jack.

She wants to make him pay, also telling son Hunter recently that she’d get revenge.

Next week, Mel ups her game and seeks an opportunity when Jack’s daughter Amy feels unwell.

Saying she will look after her, she begins looking through Jack’s bank statement but is interrupted.

Max walks in, and she’s forced to cover what she’s up to before agreeing to go for a drink with him.

Mel is reluctant to be with Max, but it’s not long before the two end up kissing.

But could Mel end up using Max, or will the pair get together for real?

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
