EastEnders lines up Hunter Owen drama as he escapes prison ahead of shock death

EastEnders favourite Mel Owen is in for a shock next week, as her criminal son Hunter escapes from prison.

Hunter is serving a sentence for killing his stepfather Ray Kelly earlier this year, who was trying to kill Mel on their wedding day.

Next week, Mel learns her son is being transported to another prison and attempts to help him by asking solicitor Gray for assistance.

She’s left upset though when he reveals nothing can be done to stop the move, but she’s not willing to let it go.

Gray manages to get someone from the prison to speak with her, as Mel wants answers on why the move is happening.

She asks them to check on her teenage son, but when she returns home she receives a surprise.

The police are there waiting for her with the news her son has escaped.

Mel demands answers on how her son managed to get away, and begins to fear for his safety.

She demands they find him or locate his whereabouts as soon as possible, but they warn her to work with them and not help her son if he tries to make contact.

Mel makes a call to get legal advice, fearing for Hunter and what might happen.

But with it confirmed Hunter is returning to the soap, will she manage to track him down before they do?

It’s been reported the character is going to be killed off in shocking scenes, while no details have been confirmed ahead of Mel’s own exit.

So is this the beginning of the end for Hunter? Viewers will have to stay tuned to find out what goes down.

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
