EastEnders legends Adam Woodyatt and Jake Wood delight fans with accidental reunion

EastEnders icons Adam Woodyatt and Jake Wood were left speechless over their surprise reunion in London.

Ex-soap star Jake, who played Max Branning, beamed with joy as he posed for a selfie with Albert Square icon Adam, who is best known for his role of Ian Beale.

The pair bumped into each other at King’s Cross Station in the capital on Monday, and shared a snapshot of the impromptu event on social media.

Jake looked sporty in a black baseball cap, black vest and backpack, while Adam rocked a maroon polo shirt, navy blue jacket and a grey fedora with sunglasses.

“Small world!! Bumped into @mrjakewood at Kings Cross,” Adam, 53, captioned the snap on Instagram.

Jake also shared the photo on social media, and wrote: “Bumped into this legend at Kings Cross this morning @adamwoodyatt Yeah, that’s right, we’re theatre bods now.”

They both looked overjoyed at their unexpected reunion, and the picture delighted EastEnders fans.

“Brilliant photo guys! Small world indeed!...” one fan wrote, while another commented: “Miss you both on EastEnders, not the same without either of you!"

Patsy Palmer, who played Bianca on the show, also shared her joy at their reunion, and simply wrote: “Brilliant !!!!”, while Max Bowden, who plays Ben Mitchell, added: “Yes boys.”

And Rita Simons also had a mini reunion with Jake, and revealed in the comments that she’d also met with her former co-star.

“Bumped into him on my way to the theatre! Weird!" she wrote.

Jake, 49, left the long-running BBC One soap in 2020, and is set to make his West End debut opposite singer Lily Allen in 2:22 A Ghost Story, which begins on Tuesday.

Meanwhile Adam, who holds the title of the longest running actor on EastEnders, with a record 36 years in Walford, is enjoying a 10-month sabbatical from the show as he travels round the UK in his motorhome while performing in the play Looking Good Dead.

However, he hinted that his break from EastEnders could be permanent, and told Metro in July that he’s got a busy schedule, and bosses might not want him back after so much time off.

"I won't be going back until this time next year at the absolute earliest. I'm committed to touring with Looking Good Dead until the end of October.

“I'm then going to America because my daughter is getting married,” Adam explained.

"Then hopefully we're going to pick the tour up and do some of the venues that were originally planned but that we hadn't managed to get to. That's likely to be January to April. And EastEnders might not want me back!" he joked.
