EastEnders' Lacey Turner's heartbreak as beloved bulldog Reggie dies

Pregnant EastEnders star Lacey Turner has said her heart is broken following the death of beloved bulldog Reggie.

The actress, who is expecting her first baby with husband Matt, took to Instagram to pay tribute to their adorable pooch.

Sharing a snap of Reggie sat in her lap, Lacey wrote: "My little Winkie!! Oh how you loved a chair. And to lay with your fav person. And bro. You loved a bacon sandwich. But never loved a bath.

"Reg our hearts are broken. How lucky we were to have you. Your truly were special in every way. Sleep tight our lovely boy and thank you for being you."

The tragic news comes just after Lacey announced that she and her husband Matt Kay were expecting their first baby.

Lacey - who plays Stacey Fowler on the BBC soap - revealed that the childhood sweethearts had been wanting a child for a long time.

In a candid interview with This Morning last month, Lacey, 31, revealed that after suffering two miscarriages she feared she and Matt might never be able to have children.

After falling pregnant for a third time Lacey said she endured an agonising wait to the seven week mark, when she had miscarried before.

She said: "I ignored it until I was 10 weeks and didn't want to be excited.

But when it got to 20 weeks Lacey said that she could "recognise the signs" of a miscarriage because she was bleeding and suffering from severe cramps.

"I just sat on the couch and cried," Lacey told hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield. "And I thought, I'll just see the scan man tomorrow and we can just confirm that it isn't living anymore.

"And I went and it was. It had a heartbeat and I'd cried all the way there in my car, put all my sad songs on.

"He just said, 'Your progesterone has just dropped'. But there was nothing wrong with my progesterone two days before."

As a result, Lacey was given progesterone pessaries.

"That is what I believe saved our baby," explained Lacey. "I think they give that to IVF patients but not everybody will prescribe it for everyone suffering from miscarriages."
