EastEnders' Lacey Turner confirms return of 'old Stacey Slater' as things 'kick off'

EastEnders viewers are in for a treat, as Stacey Fowler will revert back to her old, feisty self when she returns to Walford.

Actress Lacey Turner has promised some of the "old Stacey Slater" in upcoming scenes, as she comes face-to-face with ex-husband Martin Fowler.

Martin is now seeing her best friend Ruby Allen, and it's all set to "kick off".

Lacey has been on maternity leave since last year, after she welcomed baby daughter Dusty with husband Matt Kay.

Stacey fled Walford in July last year, and since then she has split from Martin - and she has found out in lockdown about him being with Ruby.

The betrayal and everything that has happened between them looks set to bring out some of Stacey's former antics.

She tamed down a little over the years, as she settled with Martin and raised her family and kids.

But speaking on spin-off series Secrets From The Square, Lacey teased what was to come when the soap returned to TV.

"I think you might see a bit of the old Stacey kicking off."

Fans were excited by the news, with one tweeting: "Yes bring the old feisty Stacey back!!!"

EastEnders went off air in June after running out of episodes, due to filming halting in March amid the coronavirus pandemic.

EastEnders returns to BBC One on Monday September 7.
