EastEnders killer Gray Atkins sinks claws into next victim Whitney Dean

EastEnders viewers were not impressed by Monday night's episode, as Gray Atkins finally got his claws into Whitney Dean.

After some obvious feelings and a few near kisses along the way in the past year, the pair have remained friends - despite Gray's obsession with her.

More recently, Whitney hasn't been ready to move on following the death of her boyfriend Kush Kazemi.

She of course has no idea Gray brutally murdered him as he feared he would lose Whitney, after finding out the couple's plans to flee Walford together.

Gray also murdered his own wife Chantelle Atkins a year ago, before murdering Tina Carter in December when she found out the truth.

Now, Whitney could be next on the list amid the storyline apparently returning to its original roots ahead of Gray's comeuppance.

It's been teased by bosses that viewers are now witnessing the beginning of the culmination of the plot and evil Gray, while few details have been confirmed.

What has been teased though is that Gray could return to his dark ways in terms of the abuse he put wife Chantelle through before killing her.

What this means for Whitney is unclear, but on Monday she agreed to take things slowly with Gray, after he managed to get her another chance with music producer Jen.

Later in the week this will lead to him showing his controlling behaviour yet again, as he once again fears he might lose her.

So far, viewers have seen Whitney unsure about romance so soon after Kush, with Gray having the audacity to tell her he'd want her to be happy, knowing full well he tore them apart.

On Monday night, Whitney learned Gray was behind Jen's change of heart and soon softened towards him.

Viewers were begging her to see the truth, as Gray once again put his cards on the table and asked her out.

Whitney agreed, after recently confessing to possible feelings for him.

Viewers now fear Whitney is in grave danger given his past and his obvious obsession with her, especially now that a possible downfall is on the way.

Speaking to The Mirror earlier this month, Executive Producer Jon Sen promised a huge turn of events for the family as a whole.

He said: "We have obviously got the culmination of, or the building to the culmination of, the Gray storyline. That takes its kind of next chapter.

"Obviously that has been a very long story arc and it has taken many twists and turns.

"But we are going back to the grass roots of the story really, and taking it back to its origins with a fascinating turn of events for the Atkins family."

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
