EastEnders actress Kellie Bright has revealed that she filmed herself getting drunk in a bid to prepare for her alcoholism storyline.
The soap star, who plays Linda Carter in the BBC soap, appeared on This Morning today as she spoke about the tough storyline.
"It's been a real gift of a storyline," she said. "When they floated the idea to me, it was six months before we started."
She spoke about when she began to prepare, she thought back to Linda's childhood and the fact she grew up in a pub and her dad died when she was young, believing that her dad could have been an alcoholic.
However speaking about Linda's treatment of her young son Ollie, she said: "I find all the stuff with Ollie really tough and hard to watch as a mum."
In order to better portray drunken Linda, she ended up filming herself getting drunk.
"I went to a caravan and drank too much and filmed myself," she explained. "You could see the alcohol hit myself in waves... I was waiting to watch Strictly and missed it!"
The actress also opened up about filming the explosive upcoming boat scenes.
She said: "It’s the most epic week that I have ever been involved in on the show,’ she shared. "I’ve been on the show six and a half years.
"I’m really excited about seeing it – and I think that says a lot."
Kellie added: "I can tell you that it centers around a party on a boat and I get wet.
"The Grim Reaper does stalk that boat, I can say that."
