Keanu Taylor made a shock return on tonight's EastEnders before saying his final goodbye - and fans think they know where he is going.
Having discovered her son was still alive, despite incurring the wrath of the Mitchells, Karen Taylor was determined to find answers and nearly let slip to Ben.
With seemingly no other choice, Martin Fowler decided to ensure Karen's silence by taking her to Stansted airport for one final reunion.
Karen ran into her son's arms as he apologised for destroying his life by getting Sharon Mitchell pregnant.
In emotional scenes, tearful Keanu revealed his heartache at having to leave his family and never hold his two children again.
Keanu refused to tell his mum where he was going but promised to find a way to contact her when he was settled down.
In a rare moment of humour, Karen asked if he had chosen the name on his new passport - Adrian Swanson.
And EastEnders fans are convinced they know his next destination as he flees the country and the Mitchells.
Taking to Twitter , one viewer said: "Looks like Keanu's heading back to Benidorm!"
Another added: "Is Keanu off to do another series of Benidorm?"
A third said: "If the theories are correct, Keanu should be arriving in Benidorm soon after Martin and Linda have called ahead and got Keanu a job in a hotel where apparently he’s stayed before."
Karen promised that she would tell his daughter Peggy and unborn child that he was "brave, kind, loyal and courageous".
He said: "Don’t you ever think that you let me down. This is all on me. You’ve always been there for me through thick and thin. The sacrifices you made. Dead end jobs. You’re the best mum."
After one last hug, Karen said: "You just remember where’ve you re whatever you’re doing you are always loved. Proper deep down to the bone loved."
Keanu then shook hands with Martin and thanked him for saving his life before walking off to the departure gate.
EastEnders viewers are convinced that Keanu will be coming back to Walford in the future.
Karen was fuming when she heard Louise had turned on her son - calling her a "b***h".
Promising he would get revenge, Keanu told his mum: "I promise you this. One day they will get what’s coming to them. But until then I need to disappear."
When Karen claimed they could find a way to protect him, Keanu replied: "I’m not saying things won’t be different in the future, but for now it’s the way it has to be."
The door has been left open for actor Danny Walters to return to Albert Square.
In a statement confirming his exit, the actor said: "It has been a joy to play Keanu Taylor for the last two and half years.
"I have been blessed to work with the most fantastic creative team and I will miss them and my fellow actors immensely.
"EastEnders will always hold a special place in my heart and I will continue to be an avid fan."
