EastEnders viewers got a shock tonight when Keanu Taylor made a jaw-dropping return.
Keanu was forced to flee Walford after faking his own death to escape the wrath of the Mitchells when his affair with Sharon was exposed.
During an emotional chat, Karen Taylor finally revealed to Bernadette that her brother is alive and well and she was able to say goodbye.
She warned they could not contact him and was adamant that Keanu would not return, despite Bernie leaving a voicemail explaining that Phil was out of the pitcture.
So it came as a major surprise in the next scene when the doorbell rang and Sharon found her former lover on Ian Beale's doorstep.
Rugged Keanu had a shaggy beard and was sporting a cap to disguise himself as he returned to Albert Square.
Mortified Sharon said he had to leave as she tried to stop him entering the house, but defiant Keanu claimed he would 'take his chances" with Ben.
Explaining why he was back, Keanu said: "I've come back for you..."
Pointing at Sharon's baby bump, his unborn child, he added: "...both of you. I want you to come away with me now."
Sharon looked stunned at his proposal - but will she set off for a life with Keanu and their baby?
Keanu returned after Bernadette started asking questions about his disapperance.
After failing to get information about Keanu, Bernadette took her frustrations out on Karen and Billy.
Realising she won’t let it go, Karen made a very risky move and revealed that Keanu is alive and well.
When Bernie revealed fears that her brother would be in danger, Karen said: "Keanu won't be stupid enough to come back here. He's as scared of Ben as he is Phil. He's clued up. He knows the score."
Keanu's return had been predicted after actor Danny Walters was spotted filming scenes for the 35th anniversary special.
Danny was seen with Ben Mitchell actor Max Bowden in an ambulance with cuts on his face.
