The BBC has issued a warning to EastEnders star Jessie Wallace after an incident at the weekend when she was arrested for allegedly attacking a police officer outside a nightclub. Bosses told Wallace, who is best known for playing Kat Slater in the BBC One soap, that her behaviour was 'unacceptable'.

The actress was issued with a conditional caution after the incident, in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. A BBC spokesman told MirrorOnline: “Senior bosses have spoken to Jessie Wallace about the incident and issued a clear warning that this kind of behaviour is unacceptable and Jessie has expressed her deep regret.”

The 50-year-old soap star, who has starred as Kat Slater on the BBC's long-running soap opera on and off since 2000,. accepted a conditional caution for the incident, which happened outside the Verve nightclub in the town.

A Suffolk Police spokesman said previously: “A 50-year-old woman was arrested early on Sunday morning in St Andrew’s Street, Bury St Edmunds, on suspicion of assaulting a police officer / drunk and disorderly conduct and was released without charge after receiving a conditional caution.”

While not a conviction, a conditional caution is used as an alternative to a charge and is recorded on the Police National Computer. Three months after the date of issue, the caution is marked as spent but it can be used in any possible future criminal proceedings as evidence of character..
