EastEnders' Jean Slater goes missing after seizure leading to devastating discovery

EastEnders aired heartbreaking scenes on Monday night, as the fallout of Jean Slater's collapse led to a big decision.

Jean had collapsed and began having a seizure at the end of the previous episode of the BBC soap.

On Monday, the episode began with her friend Shirley Carter trying to help her as she continued fitting, and Tina Carter called an ambulance.

With Jean rushed to hospital, doctors were struggling to stabilise her as it emerged she had suffered lithium poisoning.

Jean was confused, admitting to the nurse she hadn't been taking her bipolar medication so it wasn't possible.

Nemesis Suki Panesar, who had followed them to the hospital, quickly suspected something was going on after the confession.

Kush Kazemi and Shirley have been putting Jean's medication in her tea and her food, to force her to take them.

But after her outbursts continued, they upped the dose which led to Jean's health scare.

The pair were forced to confess all to Jean and the nurse, after leaving her life on the line - with Jean at risk of kidney failure if she hadn't collapsed when she did.

The nurse threatened to call the police on them, revealing the authorities would have to be informed.

Suki interfered though, and got her nurse daughter Ash to stop her colleague from taking it further - and there will no doubt be consequences to that.

Shirley and Kush's relief soon faded though, as the pair went to speak to Jean.

As they arrived at her cubicle, she was missing and her bed was empty.

Racing back to the Square to see if she had left the hospital, they were right and she was at home.

It then emerged she'd changed the locks to stop Kush from getting inside.

Jean emerged at the window before chucking his and the kids' belongings out of the house - refusing to let anyone live there with her as she no longer trusted him.

EastEnders airs Mondays at 8pm, and Tuesdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
