EastEnders' Jake Wood unveils exactly how Max Branning makes his dramatic exit

After 15 years of appearing in our screens as Max Branning in EastEnders, actor Jake Wood is just days away from his dramatic exit from the hit soap.

And Jake, 48, has finally revealed exactly how his final moments on the soap will go down - and whether or not Max will be leaving Walford in a cab or a coffin.

Revealing that Max decided to leave the town after realising he's got nothing left, Jake told Digital Spy : "I guess it comes at that point when he absolutely realises it's not going to work out with him and Linda."

"And yeah then he gets an offer to go and see Lauren in New Zealand, so that must look like a more attractive proposition at the moment," Jake added.

He went on: "He's living with Jack, who is busy with his career and his new relationship. Jack's half asked him to move out. There's not much for him in Walford, if I'm honest."

"He hasn't got a car lot. He hasn't got a business there. Ian Beale's gone missing, still owing him a tonne of money. It's all gone a bit wrong for him," he added.

And when quizzed on what's going through Max's mind while he's leaving Walford behind, Jake was quick to bring the jokes in.

"I think, 'Is there a job at Coronation Street?' is the first thing," he laughed, before revealing that Max will be sure to take up Lauren's offer of visiting her in New Zealand.

"Fresh beginnings," he added.

Jake filmed his final scenes on the hit soap back in December and January, with his emotional exit after more than a decade on our screens set to air in the coming days.
