EastEnders' Jake Wood says goodbye to Walford as he films final scenes as Max Branning

EastEnders star Jake Wood has said goodbye to Albert Square after 15 years as he filmed his final scenes as Max Branning today.

The actor posted an emotional goodbye online as he prepared to leave Walford for the final time.

His character Max is still going to be seen onscreen over the coming weeks before leaving the soap in February in what's sure to be a dramatic exit.

However, it was Jake's last day on set today and he shared a heartfelt video as he walked away.

He wrote: "That’s a wrap. After 15 years on Albert Square it’s finally time to say goodbye to Max Branning today.

"I will miss Eastenders and the people here so much. Thanks to everyone for all your support."

In the clip, he was seen walking away from the Queen Vic pub as he said: "Morning everyone how are we all? Hope you are well.

"Who knows what the future brings. It's a sad day for Max Branning."

Earlier this month, Jake admitted the door will be left open for Max's return as he will be leaving in a "cab not a coffin".

Speaking to Good Morning Britain's Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, Jake said: "One of the security guys when I drove in last week said, 'Sorry to hear you're leaving, are you going in a cab or a coffin?'
