EastEnders hints at Chantelle Atkins and Kheerat Panesar affair after power cut

EastEnders fans have noticed a simmering chemistry between Chantelle Atkins and Kheerat Panesar over the last few months - and the BBC soap has hinted that an affair could be in store.

Chantelle's husband Gray has continued to be controlling towards his wife behind closed doors, violently lashing out at her while the rest of Albert Square has hailed him as a saint.

However Kheerat appears to be one of the few that has noticed something is awry between the seemingly perfect couple.

Chantelle and Kheerat will end up locked up together on EastEnders (BBC / Jack Barnes)

Next week, Gray is left in a foul mood after discovering Whitney may have fled the Square.

Things become even worse when his boss Laura arrives for a meeting with Whitney and everyone is forced to cover for her.

Gray is secretly abusing Chantelle behind closed doors (BBC/Kieron McCarron/Jack Barnes)

As Chantelle tries to think up ways to help cheer up her husband, Suki arrives and accuses Chantelle of not being dedicated to her new job. However Kheerat uncharacteristically intervenes.

The pressure begins to rise of Gray and he tries to get hold of Chantelle while she is at work.

When he finally does, there is a power cut and he is cut off from the call.

Chantelle then discovers that she is locked in with Kheerat and is left panicking.

How will Gray react? And could either of them act on the chemistry brewing between them?

*EastEnders airs Mondays at 8pm and Tuesdays at 7.30pm on BBC One
