EastEnders appeared to foreshadow that Gray Atkins would kill again - with fans worried that Tina Carter could become his next victim.
During last night's Christmas Day episode, Gray and Tina had become embroiled in a bitter row as she had said that Chantelle had been planning to leave him in front of his children.
The tense moment saw Gray seethe with rage, but when he returned home Tina apologised for what she had said.
While loading up the dishwasher, Tina paused as she said: "Gray, I went too far, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that about Chantelle. But I've cleaned everything up so if you want, sit down and put your feet up!"
A stone-faced Gray responded: "They're the wrong way up."
Confused, Tina responded: "Huh?"
"The knives," Gray replied. "They go blade up."
Tina turned back to the cutlery and switched over the knives as Gray smiled.
And fans found the moment particularly chilling as they recalled Chantelle's death, which saw the doomed hairdresser pushed by Gray and fall back onto the knives in the dishwasher and left to die.
Fearful viewers took to Twitter to comment as they speculated that Gray could be set to kill again.
One tweeted: "Gray telling Tina h8w to load the dishwasher is chilling!! #EastEnders."
While another commented: "Tina to die for New Years I'm guessing via Gray #EastEnders."
A third wrote: "Shocked when Gray told Tina to put the knives in the dish washer facing up. I feel like something bad is going to happen to Tina and Gray will be involved. #eastende rs."
Another commented: "I actually gasped when Gray told Tina to put the knives in the dish washer facing up, absolute ptsd he needs to face up to what he has done soon #Justiceforchantelle #eastenders #domesticabuse #bbceastenders."
One questioned: "Is Gray going to kill Tina???? #EastEnders."
