EastEnders aired the heartbreaking death of teen Dennis Rickman on Friday night, as he drowned in the devastating boat crash.
Sharon Mitchell's son lost his life in the crash on the Thames, after Ben and Phil Mitchell's final showdown with Keanu Taylor took a deadly turn.
But as viewers reeled from the tragedy, some recalled a chilling foreshadowing that hinted at the demise - in scenes that aired last year.
The scene in question actually aired months ago, back in June, making the storyline all the more eerie.
It featured Dennis' stepbrother Ben Mitchell, and his pal and the mother of his daughter Lola Pearce.
They'd just found out Sharon Mitchell was pregnant, with what they believed at the time to be Phil's baby.
Ben and Lola went card shopping for the occasion, and something Ben did left his pal scolding him.
Max Bowden's character picked up a card that read "deepest sympathy", meant for a loss.
Lola said: "Deepest sympathy, are you serious?"
Ben replied: "Could be ironic couldn't it," referencing the loss of sleep the parents would suffer.
Now, the scene is eerily tragic given what happened on the soap last week.
Fans are convinced the scene was a deliberate foreshadowing of Dennis' future death.
Obviously at the time there was no way the viewers could have known what was coming, but now they're sure it was a major hint.
One fan said: "The foreshadowing omg i’m gonna throw up."
Another agreed: "They really knew what they were doing."
A third added: "The foreshadowing."
EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
