EastEnders fans sickened by Ian Beale's unforgivable lie - but he is caught by Peter

EastEnders fans were sickened by Ian Beale's unforgivable lies in tonight's episode.

Sharon wanted to know every details of how her 13-year-old son Denny died from guilt-ridden Ian.

But doubts began to form in her mind when Dotty Cotton revealed she saw Ian arguing with drunk Dennis on the boat before his untimely death.

Desperate for answers, Sharon confronted Ian in the pub and demanded to know what he was hiding.

Ian desperately tried to cover his tracks as he was aware the consequences would be devastating if the truth came out.

Lying through his teeth, he told her: "Yeah you're right. Denny was drinking. That's why I was arguing with him, because he's underage."

"If you were there you would have done the same. That's why I feel so guilty. I blame myself for not doing more to stop him."

Claiming it was not his responsibility, Sharon said: "It's my fault he was drinking Ian. You were just trying to protect me."

When Ian went to the toilet, inconsolable Sharon then broke down in tears after Shirley raised a toast to Denny.

But it seems Ian will be caught out after Dotty told him that his dad was acting "shifty" on the night of the boat crash.

She told Bex that Ian had a "face like thunder" while looking for Dennis - and Peter overheard.

Peter also looked concerned when he heard his dad trying to worm his way out of trouble with Sharon.

Later on, Ian heard Sharon crying upstairs after spinning his web of lies.

But he was thrown when Peter walked in and revealed: "I know what you did to Dennis."

Disgusted EastEnders viewers took to Twitter after listening to Ian's sick lies.

One viewer said: "Ian is such a sly little git. Still lying to Sharon"

"Never hated Ian Beale like this before," added another.

A third said: "It's still all about Ian. How does he sleep at night. The truth will out when Sharon hears that recording"

"Ian Beale will be lucky if he gets out this hole alive let alone living rough," said a fourth.
