EastEnders fans shocked as Ben Mitchell reveals Callum Halfway is gay in explosive scenes

EastEnders viewers were left shocked tonight after Ben Mitchell appeared to uncover Callum Halfway's secret - that he's gay.

Over the last few weeks, Callum appears to have been hiding something and it looks like Ben, played by Max Bowden, has figured out what Callum has been keen to keep quiet.

Tonight, the pair became embroiled in an explosive row after Ben sold Callum (Tony Clay) a stolen van.

When Callum confronted Ben, the tension between them escalated - and so did the chemistry.

As Callum slammed Ben against a wall after his taunting, Ben was shocked as he noticed Callum's anger melt down into something else.

Ben smirked as he said: "I smell a queer", prompting Callum to stagger back in horror.

"Suddenly it all falls into place," Ben grinned. "I've been there myself."

"Shut up," Callum snapped, struggling to keep hold of his emotions.

"You like blokes," Ben continued.

"No I don't," Callum insisted. "I ain't nothing like that. You've got it wrong. I've got a girlfriend!"

"I've got a daughter, mate - " Ben began but was interrupted by Callum, who frantically rejected the idea.

"Don't call me mate! I'm nothing like you!"

"So what?" Ben shouted back. "You like guys, you like girls... I guess that's why they call you 'Halfway'.

"Bet you loved the army, eh mate? It was like me in prison, all those men having communal showers, all that pent-up testosterone. I bet you was very popular."

Ben asked him whether he would 'kiss it better' (BBC)

Furious, Callum punched Ben as he demanded he "shut up".

But Ben just laughed as Callum appeared to be suffering from a breakdown.

"That hurt," Ben grinned. "Wanna kiss it better?"

Callum stormed out of his house and made his way through Albert Square in tears, almost collapsing as he thought back to Whitney's haunting words earlier.

Heartbreaking.
