EastEnders fans 'rumble killer Gray's fate' ahead of dramatic comeuppance

EastEnders viewers believe a scene from earlier this week may have alluded to Gray Atkins' fate on the BBC soap.

The serial killer's crimes have finally been exposed, and Walford residents are out for revenge.

As the walls close in on Gray, he's desperate to get away and escape justice - but his plan may have been thwarted by wife Chelsea Fox.

Chelsea managed to get him to confess, while secretly on the phone to the police.

Viewers are now fearing Chelsea might lose her life as he loses control, but she isn't the only one to face a stand-off with Gray.

With residents wanting to bring him down, viewers will see Shirley Carter, Whitney Dean and Karen Taylor all confront him.

The episode will see the character face his downfall, but details are being kept under wraps as to how that happens.

Some viewers believe there could be a whodunnit on the cards, and that Gray will be killed off in a revenge twist.

But others believe a scene including Whitney earlier this week may suggest otherwise, and that Gray might live.

Whitney's words to Shirley to stop her from killing Gray left some fans thinking the soap's bosses had listened to viewers, who have long called for Gray to face justice and be arrested for his crimes.

The character talked about the moment she stabbed her stalker Leo to death in self-defence in 2020, and revealed while she was relieved he was gone, it was almost like he got away with what he did.

She said: "You know when I killed Leo I was relieved at first, but then... he never had to face up to me in court, he never had to answer for what he did to me."

She was encouraging Shirley to not hurt Gray, so that the police could get him and he could explain his crimes - and face the rest of his life in prison.

Now, viewers believe the moment was a hint that Gray would not be killed by any resident in Walford, and perhaps he would be arrested.

As some feared he may do a runner or might even attempt to take his own life, others believed the scene was a confirmation that Gray was not going to get away with what he had done.

One viewer said on Twitter : "When she said that it made me feel like the writers listened and knew how we felt about the situation as what Whitney said is exactly what most of us want - for him to go to prison for life and not get out the easy way. So I’m hoping that actually happens and he goes to prison."

Another commented: "I’m still holding out hope for him not to die and to be arrested, I keep hearing interviews and reading articles that say the ending is satisfying, and I feel that would be the most. Maybe a fall from a roof and he’s paralysed but not killed then he can be sent to jail with Lucas."

A third added: "She also said it will only feel like justice if he has his day in court, I still holding out hope that EE do this story good and he goes on trial. The last good trial we had was Max."
