EastEnders fans were left scratching their heads this evening as Phil Mitchell snapped a selfie beside his son's hospital bed.
Phil (Steve McFadden) was visiting Raymond, the son he shares with Denise Fox (Diane Parish), who was involved in a nasty car accident last month that killed his adoptive family.
Phil and Denise put their baby up for adoption three years back, with his adoptive grandmother Ellie now caring for him in the hospital.
And in scenes that left viewers baffled, Phil decided to take a selfie beside his son's hospital bed.
"Phil taking a hospital bed selfie, as you do," one confused fan wrote.
Another tweeted: "Phil having a selfie with a kid fighting for his life is a bit insensitive."
A third remarked: "Phil Mitchell taking a selfie is the best thing to come out of 2020."
A fourth was dumbstruck by the scene and just observed: "Phil taking a smiling selfie of himself and raymond who's in the hospital bed."
Raymond was conceived after Phil and Denise had a drunken one-night stand.
When Denise found out she was pregnant, she decided to keep the baby but keep her pregnancy under wraps.
But Phil's wife Sharon discovered the truth after overhearing Denise telling Shirley that Phil was the father.
Despite pleas from her family, Denise resolved to give up the baby for adoption.
In tear-jerking scenes after giving birth, Denise told her newborn that she wasn't able to be his mum, before signing the papers to put him up for adoption.
