EastEnders fans rattled over Phil's grim murder plan for pregnant wife Sharon

EastEnders viewers were left a little unnerved during the latest episode of the BBC soap, as Phil put his deadly plan into motion.

The character kidnapped and beat up Jack Branning, before plotting to set him on fire.

When that failed, he pulled out a gun and prepared to shoot him.

Phil had recently discovered the baby his pregnant wife Sharon Mitchell is carrying isn't his.

But what he doesn't know is that Keanu Taylor, his son-in-law, is the dad and not Sharon's ex Jack.

The truth will come out at Christmas, but until then it's poor Jack paying the price.

Viewers were a little more worried about what Phil had planned for Sharon though, after a chilling confession to son Ben.

Ben was worried he was going to kill Jack, unaware he'd already knocked him out and left him tied up in The Arches.

Phil claimed he was keeping himself busy, but his reasons for this left them shocked.

He told son Ben that keeping himself occupied was the only thing stopping him from killing Sharon.

Not only that, but he was resisting the urge to strangle her with his hands and "squeeze the life out of her".

Fans couldn't believe how far Phil had gone, ahead of his showdown with Sharon on Christmas Day.

A new trailer teased the moment he chucks a chair in the path of her as he asks her "was he worth it".

One fan tweeted: "SCUM. TOUCH SHARON I ACTUALLY DARE YOU."

Another said: "Phil is on the warpath & Sharon & Keanu are in danger now."

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
