EastEnders fans rage as soap is pushed back due to BBC One technical blunder

EastEnders fans were furious as the soap was pushed back from it's usual 8:05pm slot on Monday.

A technical blunder on BBC One meant that its Panorama documentary, Can Biden Unite America? went off air for 20 minutes.

When it finally returned, the channel decided to show viewers the part it had missed rather than keeping it to the same time schedule.

This left EastEnders fans tuning in and ended up baffled as to where their favourite soap was.

Viewers tuned in to watch EastEnders but were met with a documentary (BBC)

One tweeted: "Switched over to BBC One for EastEnders and I’m presented with a program about T*ump supporters. Ew."

Another asked: " @bbceastenders why isn't it on? It's gone 8 and something eles is still on".

"Where the hell is @bbceastenders @BBCOne," wondered another.

Another complained: "Don’t pay my tv license to watch Americans with no IQ use guns. Eastenders plz. #eastenders #bbc ".

One more ranted: " @bbceastenders @BBCNews F**KING PUT EASTENDERS ON YOU D**KHEAD".

The channel put out an apology on the screen as it came up with an error message and the Panorama documentary stopped.

The programme was marred by technical difficulties for the first 20 minutes, according to disgruntled viewers.

And when the channel did finally return, the sound was reportedly not working.

A voiceover read out: Well I am sorry we are having a problem bringing you Panorama tonight, we will try to get it to you as soon as we possibly can."

A few minutes later the voice returned to say: "You are watching BBC One, and unfortunately tonight we are having a major technical problem, do bear with us, as I keep on saying, we are trying to get the problem sorted.

"And as soon as we best can, we will be back with you on here."

The show eventually returned but viewers were raging that they had missed a huge chunk of the programme.

BBC later issued a statement that said: “Unfortunately major technical issues delayed the start of Panorama this evening.

"The BBC One schedule is now running 5 minutes late - we apologise to viewers for the disruption.”
