EastEnders fans horrified as Gray breaks wife Chantelle's arm in violent attack

EastEnders aired a violent twist on Tuesday night, as abuser Gray Atkins attacked his wife Chantelle after learning she wasn't pregnant.

The pair had just returned from their honeymoon after renewing their wedding vows, with Gray making it clear they'd been trying for a baby constantly while away.

Viewers were disgusted last week when Gray forced Chantelle to have sex with him, wanting them to have another child following her miscarriage late last year.

Chantelle didn't want another baby with her abusive husband, just like she was having second thoughts about remarrying him, growing more aware of the abusive relationship she is in.

Viewers first learned Chantelle's apparently doting husband Gray was violent towards her early last year - while her family have no idea about the truth.

In the latest episode, Chantelle was stunned when Gray presented her with a pregnancy test just hours after making her sleep with him once again.

When the test came back negative, Gray switched and became aggressive once more.

He had seen her with an old friend, newcomer Jags, after she helped him with his food shop.

When Gray began quizzing her about it, he accused her of not caring about whether they had a baby or not.

He also suggested she didn't love him as much as he loved her, as Chantelle tried to get away from him.

It's then that he grabbed her and refused to let go, before pulling on her arm.

Viewers were horrified as they heard something snap with Chantelle crying out in pain, and her later admitting she believed she had broken her arm.

Gray finally agreed to take her to the hospital, with her blaming herself for the incident - even apologising to her abuser for making him think she didn't love him.

Viewers were devastated for Chantelle, begging her to seek help and not blame herself as one fan said: "Chantelle blaming herself is literally every victim of domestic violence. This is so so hard to watch."

Another said: "It's not your fault Chantelle."

A third added: "Poor Chantelle blaming herself and apologising when she’s done literally n o t h i n g wrong."

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
