EastEnders fans horrified as drunk Gray throttles Chantelle in horrific scenes

EastEnders viewers were left horrified this evening as Gray Atkins took out all of his rage on his poor wife Chantelle after losing his job.

The lawyer, played by Toby-Alexander Smith, was barely able to contain his anger tonight as he struggled to deal with the 'humiliation'.

When he returned home, he let out all of his anger at Chantelle and blamed her for losing his job by persuading him to take on Whitney's case

Furious viewers took to Twitter over the horrifying scenes, with one tweeting: "When does gray get found out? Soon hopefully what a bully poor chantelle #eastenders."

While another commented: "The consistency of the Gray and Chantelle storyline, + how it just keeps on going in the background of other big stories, has made me feel anxious every time they are alone at home in a scene, because he might kick off. A clever way of making us FEEL that story. #EastEnders."

A third remarked: "Chantelle is on the edge because shes just waiting for Gray to blow up and take his anger out on her she's treading on egg shells, just waiting..... And it will happen. This abuse SL is being portrayed really well #Eastenders."

"Are we supposed to feel sorry for Gray? Because that’s not going to happen. Men who beat their wives don’t get sympathy #EastEnders," another wrote.

One commented: "Omg gray attacking Chantelle again #EastEnders."

Another wrote: "Ffs gray is disgusting vile of man accusing Chantelle ffs why stay with him ffs #Eastenders she should tell her dad he will beat the f***er."

*EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One
