EastEnders fans fear for Whitney Dean as she goes on hunger strike amid prison hell

EastEnders viewers were left concerned for Whitney Dean on Monday night, as the character made a dangerous decision.

The character went on hunger strike, after feeling she wasn't being heard.

Whitney was arrested for the murder of her stalker Leo King last month, and was denied bail in recent episodes.

Fans of the BBC soap know that Whitney accidentally stabbed Leo in self-defence, when he fell on the blade he was attempting to kill her with.

The police didn't believe her, despite Whitney being stalked for months.

On Monday, a struggling Whitney demanded to see her solicitor Gray.

Gray had vowed to get her out of prison, or at least bail, but failed on both.

He's since been suspended from work, but didn't tell her the truth as she remained behind bars.

She did soon find out the news from the prison guard, leaving her distraught.

Gray himself had just learned his firm were dropping the case entirely, leading to Chantelle suggesting he go it alone.

Meanwhile, the guard brought Whitney her dinner but she refused to eat it and handed it back.

He told her she was being stupid and would only be hurting herself.

It's then that she talked of not being understood, saying: "I ain't gonna eat another mouthful until they do."

Taking to Twitter , viewers feared for the character and one fan said: "Poor Whitney. Refusing to eat, hair falling out, self-harming. I can't imagine what she's gonna be like when she gets out."

Another said: "Whitney needs help NOW, before it's too late."

A third added: "Whitney you need to eat please! This is not gonna get you out of prison faster!"

Meanwhile a fourth commented: "Whitney going on hunger strike bloody hell."

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
