EastEnders fans convinced Michael Caine is in Walford after Ben Mitchell scene

EastEnders viewers were a little confused on Friday, after noticing something about Ben Mitchell that they couldn’t forget.

There was drama in the latest visit to Walford, as Keanu Taylor agreed to do a job for Ben’s dad Phil.

What he wasn’t anticipating though was said job involved human trafficking.

He protested against driving the lorry containing two girls, but Ben showed up and declared the business should go ahead.

Later on he was seen trying to keep Lola Pearce and Jay Brown apart, as their past romance appeared to be blossoming once more.

It’s then that Ben dropped Lola’s secret that she’s been hiding since her return last month.

But it wasn’t any of this that got viewers talking, but something about Ben, played by actor Max Bowden, that several viewers picked up on.

As Ben talked, viewers commented that he sounded a lot like cockney actor Michael Caine.

The Batman actor has a very distinctive voice, with BBC soap viewers joking he had joined the soap on hearing Ben talking.

Taking to Twitter fans questioned if anyone else noticed the likeness in accents, as others couldn’t work out if he was putting the accent on.

One viewer said: “Ben doing his finest Michael Caine there.”

Another tweeted: “This new Ben Mitchell is Michael Caine - he’ll be telling Keanu he was 'only meant to blow the bloody doors off!' next!”

A third commented: “Why has Ben Mitchell turned into Michael Caine.”

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm.
