EastEnders fans call out 'miracle birth' after newborn baby has no umbilical cord

EastEnders fans have called Louise Mitchell's newborn baby a 'miracle' after it was born without a vital component.

It was all action on Albert Square as Louise went into labour early, prompting a rush to hospital for the expecting mother and Keanu Taylor.

They were closely followed by the erstwhile Phil Mitchell, who in turn was desperately trying to get hold of Sharon Mitchell, so that she could support Louise as her waters break.

Sharon for her part was dropping a baby bombshell of her own during a visit to Lisa Fowler, in which she revealed that Phil wasn't the father of her child and in fact it was new dad Keanu, who looks like he has a busy time ahead.

Meanwhile, back at the hospital, a 'miracle' is about to happen as baby Peggy arrives into the world.

Fans of the BBC soap were quick to point out that when the baby arrives and is swaddled into a towel, there doesn't seem to be any umbilical cord.

Viewers were quick to take to Twitter to expose the gaffe as the newborn is seen being moved with a fully formed belly button in place.

One EastEnders fan pointed out: "Funny. Hows baby Peggy was born with a healed belly button, no surplus umbilical chord! #EastEnders"

Another was surprised to see the newborn baby was detatched. They tweeted: "Why the hell did Louise's baby not have an umbilical cord. Some magic womb or what #EastEnders"

Soap births are usually fraught with dangers and twist and turns but rarely is the 'miracle of birth' seemingly just that.
