EastEnders fans have been left in utter shock as Ian Beale's attacker was finally unveiled.
In the Christmas Day instalment on the beloved BBC One soap, the Square's longest-running weasel Ian Beale ( Adam Woodyatt ) finally learned who has been trying to kill him: his wife Sharon Beale ( Letitia Dean ).
That's right, Ian's childhood best friend and latest wife Sharon had been plotting revenge on him for his involvement in the death of her beloved son Dennis earlier this year.
Having teamed up with now ex-husband Phil Mitchell ( Steve McFadden ), she arranged the attack on Ian but Phil did not finish the job.
Instead, the episode saw Sharon explain that she had gone through with marrying Ian to ensure the deed was done.
The explosive Christmas instalment ended with Sharon plotting to potentially poison Ian with a Christmas pudding, of course!
Will Ian live to see next Christmas?
Naturally, viewers were lapping up the latest drama on Albert Square and were especially fond of Queen of Walford Sharon's latest escapades.
One Enders viewer wrote on Twitter : "Nailed it! Sharon and Phil being in cahoots and whacking Ian, Ben leaving him and Peter doing the graffiti, etc. I never get this stuff right usually! #Ballum #EastEnders "

Meanwhile, another social media user tweeted: "Sharon should confront Ian and give him a right sorting out herself, like the absolute Queen she is. You can take the girl out of the Mitchells, but you can’t take the Mitchell out of the girl it would seem! #eastenders ".

As we continue on from the dramatic Christmas Day cliffhanger tomorrow, Martin Fowler also has some amends to make, while a troubled Mick Carter pours out his sorrows.
Elsewhere, we also have to wait and see what Denise Fox will do next following the return of her serial killer ex-husband Lucas Johnson and their daughter Chelsea Fox.
