EastEnders fans beg for iconic character to return as classic episode airs

EastEnders fans were delighted at Tuesday's classic episode which centred around the Carter family as Mick Carter smashed up the Queen Vic.

The episode was from 2014 and depicted the aftermath of Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) revealing that she is actually Mick's mother, and not his sister, as Mick (Danny Dyer) was always told.

The family was reeling from the revelation, along with Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) having just been raped by Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo)

The Christmas episode included the evil villain Aunt Babe, who delighted viewers who had forgotten just how nasty and fun to watch she was.

Many begged the soap to bring back the character, who was played by Annette Badland.

One fan tweeted: "This Christmas day episode repeat on #BBCOne was great also I miss Aunt Babe wish they brought her back #EastEnders".

"Watching classic @EastEnders wouldn’t it be great if Aunt babe returned @AnnetteBadland1 she was right b***h brilliant actress," added another.

"Oh I miss Stan and Aunt Babe. #EastEnders," added another.

"Aunt Babe needs to return she was hilarious #EastEnders," wrote a fourth.

A fifth delcared: "#EastEnders Aunt Babe was a nasty cow! Bring her back! #ClassicEastEnders".

Babe Smith, otherwise known as Aunt Babe, is the aunt of Shirley and Tina Carter, and the sister of Sylvie.

She was last seen when she was thrown out of the Queen Vic by Mick because she served alcohol with breakfast to an undercover detective, landing them a £20,000 fine.

After a fight with sister Slyvie, Babe left her to die by the canal in the rain and she also threatened Shirley to watch her back.

Babe was a well-loved villain and Annette believed she had an "ugly end" when the new show executive had not wanted the character any more.

Babe left the soap in 2017, but Annette revealed she would love for her to return one day, so we could be seeing her back on our screens.

She told Radio Times: "I’d been there about three years and it was my life. It was heartbreaking, really. They gave me such an ugly end."

"I’d love to go back for a specific story, hopefully one day Mick will need Babe and want her back."
