EastEnders fans baffled as Bailey, 11, is ignored by passers-by as she sleeps on street

EastEnders fans were left bemused last week as passers-by failed to stop and check in on 11-year-old Bailey, who was sleeping rough on the streets with her dog.

Mitch's daughter, played by Kara-Leah Fernandes, ran away from home after believing that her family would be better off without her.

In heartbreaking scenes, Bailey was seen lying down on collapsed cardboard boxes in a sleeping bag with her loyal pup Banjo by her side.

Despite clearly being a child, no one stopped to check whether she was alright and people were just seen walking past her.

Fans were confused that people would simply ignore a child sleeping rough on the streets and took to Twitter to comment.

One fan commented: "#EastEnders Poor Bailey, bedding down in an underground underpass with Banjo."

While another tweeted: "It’s sad seeing so many people walking past Bailey, an 11 year old girl sleeping rough and not offering to help, and it’s even sadder knowing society is actually like that #EastEnders."

A third wrote: "Bailey would be in my house in a flash eating hot, buttery crumpets then ice cream for pudding. But I guess it can be easy to walk past a kid of her age on the street? #EastEnders."

Yet, it later emerged that Bailey had been noticed on Walford Common that night she had left.

Next week on the BBC soap, a man claiming to be friends with her late mum will find her, but Bailey will encounter yet more heartbreak when some youths end up stealing her belongings.

She gives chase, but is unable to retrieve them. Later, Keegan is panicked when he comes across an injured Banjo but no Bailey.

Will she be ok?
