EastEnders' dramatic new trailer teases big return and consequences for the Mitchells

EastEnders has revealed a tense new trailer focusing on the Mitchell family, with a return looming.

Sharon Watts makes her way back to Walford in new scenes, weeks on from her surprise exit after the death of her teenage son Dennis.

She gave her baby son Kayden away to his grandmother Karen Taylor, unable to cope with her grief.

Phil Mitchell was hoping to reconcile with his wife after Dennis' death, feeling guilty as he caused the boat crash that killed him.

His son Ben was also injured in the crash, and has lost almost all of his hearing as a result.

Phil has seemed to be preoccupied with his grief for Dennis and his hopes to get back with Sharon.

He hasn't been there for Ben during his own turmoil, more focused on securing The Queen Vic for him and Sharon to run.

After getting away to Australia where her friend Michelle Fowler is, Sharon makes a surprise return unannounced in looming scenes.

Showing up at the house, Phil is stunned but pleased to see her there.

It could mean more heartache for Ben though, as Phil looks set to choose her over him despite what he's going through.

In one scene the father and son come to blows over his plans, with Ben questioning whether Sharon will claim back her baby boy Kayden.

Phil cruelly tells him: "You just worry about yourself," ignoring his comments.

Later, Sharon appears to agree to their new life at The Vic as she asks Phil, "Just the two of us?"

Phil repeats: "Just the two of us," - but will Ben be left out in the cold again?

There's also a scene with a tearful Sharon holding her baby boy, so will she change her mind about handing him over?

The voiceover ends the trailer by saying: "Forgiveness comes at a price," so there will no doubt be consequences for those involved.

EastEnders airs Mondays at 8pm, and Tuesdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
