EastEnders Dot Cotton's granddaughter Dotty returns - played by different actress

Dot Cotton's mischievous granddaughter Dotty will be returning to EastEnders after 10 years away from Albert Square.

However soap fans may not recognise her - and not just because she's grown up, but because she'll have a different face.

Dotty will be played by CBBC actress Milly Zero after original star Molly Conlin stepped down.

She is set to wreak havoc as she begins university in London and will cause her grandma a whole heap of trouble.

Dotty was last seen on screen in 2010 after finding out that her mum Sandy was still alive and searching for her.

The duo ended up leaving Walford in a bid to start a new life in the US. They later moved to Wales but now she will return with Dot after her grandma visits them there.

BBC soap boss Jon Sen told The Sun that she would be arriving "with a bang".

Meanwhile actress Milly told the publication: "I am honestly so excited to be playing Dotty Cotton and joining the E20 family, especially playing alongside June Brown, who I have been watching on my telly since I was a young girl.

"Her and Dotty have such an interesting relationship to explore with a complicated history, so I can’t wait to see what the future holds for them. It all feels very surreal and I am buzzing already."

Dotty first appeared in Albert Square in 2008 as Dot's evil son's daughter.

The young girl became embroiled in Nick's nasty plan to kill her grandmother Dot so that she could inherit the money from her will.

However things went awry for Nick when the pair ended up bonding.

*EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One
