EastEnders death horror as Phil forced to choose between his kids Ben and Louise

EastEnders left fans fearing the worst on Friday's episode of the BBC soap, as Hunter Owen's revenge spiralled out of control.

Several characters were in grave danger, with two members of the Mitchell clan left fighting for their lives.

The episode picked up after the scenes at the end of Thursday's stint in Walford, as killer teen Hunter Owen took hostages in The Queen Vic.

As the gun went off and someone was shot, it wasn't revealed until the latest episode that the victim was none other than Ben Mitchell.

His dad Phil, who was being kept behind police tape outside the pub, was on the warpath once he learned his son was injured and that Louise was also inside.

He enlisted the help of pregnant Louise's partner Keanu Taylor to get a crowbar from The Arches, intending on getting into The Vic as it remained under seige.

Phil managed to get round the back and made his way into the pub, ready to take down killer Hunter and save his kids and everyone else.

But his arrival only made things worse, leading to Hunter grabbing Louise and pointing the gun at her head.

It's then that Phil saw son Ben in a bad way on the floor, and he dropped his weapon and cooperated with Hunter.

He could only watch on as the teen then continued to threaten Lou, before dragging her towards the door to use her as a hostage with the police in his bid to flee.

Phil had to choose between staying with a dying Ben or doing what he could to help his daughter, leaving him horrified.

Louise screamed out for her dad to help her as Hunter took her away, but Phil shouted out to her to "do as he says" as he realised he had to stay with Ben.

With Lou now out the pub, Phil urged his son to stay with him fearing he was going to lose him, unaware of the drama unfolding in the Square as Hunter shot Keanu Taylor before attempting to shoot Louise only to be stopped by the armed officers.

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
