EastEnders' Davood Ghadami 'couldn't watch' Kush Kazemi's history-making murder

EastEnders ' Davood Ghadami has revealed he could not bear to watch his character Kush Kazemi's horrific murder in Monday night's episode.

Kush was pushed in front of an oncoming underground train by Gray Atkins, who was obsessed with Kush's fiance Whitney Dean, and had realised the couple were fleeing.

He was Gray's third victim after the lawyer killed wife Chantelle, and then Tina Carter when she rumbled him - and fans are absolutely desperate for him to get his comeuppance.

Davood admitted he would miss playing Kush terribly, but was glad to have such a dramatic exit - and he made history as Kush was the first ever character on EastEnders to be killed this way.

"I’ll be sad to see him go but I’ve loved every minute of playing the character," said Davood.

"I have really enjoyed being part of that final storyline, my time over the six and a half years has culminated in something that people will remember.

"He’s the first character to be killed in this way so it’s an EastEnders first, and when you leave a show like this and the door's open, that question can stay over you for a very long time, but this is very definitive, of course, and I’m happy with that.

Gray turned around and shoved Kush as hard as he could, and the train hit him (BBC)

"It’s a nice thing to have a full stop to the end of Kush’s story. Although it’s the end of the line for Kush, he has given me lots of happy memories and I will miss him greatly."

Davood said it was "exciting" to film in a different set, and explained the tube station set was specifically created for the scenes, using CGI for the train to give it "an extra edge".

"To be part of something like that, that bold and that different was a real privilege and a nice way to end my time on EastEnders," he gushed.

Asked how he predicted fans might react, Davood replied: "I don’t think people are expecting it.

"The way and manner in which he leaves the show will hopefully be memorable for people and they’ll be able to look back on it as a real shocking moment.

Davood said he was unsure if he would be able to watch the episode - but added: "I'll have to watch it though, I can’t not see it.

EastEnders star Davood Ghadami is starring Holby City as Eli Ebrahimi, a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon, later this year (BBC)

"It’ll be nice in a way to put Kush to bed and do it on a bit of a high," he concluded.

The actor is now joining BBC One's hospital-based soap Holby City as Eli Ebrahimi, a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon, later this year.

* EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
