EastEnders confirms Whitney Dean's fate as murder trial verdict unveiled

EastEnders' Whitney Dean learned her fate on Thursday night, after a harrowing few months for the character.

Whitney was arrested earlier this year for stabbing her stalker Leo King to death.

She accidentally killed him in self-defence, when he hid in her house before attempting to kill her with a knife.

After a scuffle that saw Whitney battle for her life, Leo fell on the blade that was in her hand and he died.

She then fled the scene only to hand herself in later on, before she was arrested.

Since then, she's been preparing for the court case, accused of murdering Leo.

Gray Atkins, her lawyer, came to her defence and managed to help her case - amid his own killer secret.

As the jury gathered to share their verdict on Tuesday, the episode ended before it was announced.

As Thursday's episode began, within seconds viewers heard the words: "Not guilty."

Whitney was in tears and visibly shocked over the verdict, fearing it would not go her way.

Her aunt Sonia Fowler could be heard shouting out with relief, as Whitney thanked Gray for his help.
