EastEnders confirms devastating Chantelle scene fans weren't shown as Gray hits her

EastEnders confirmed what Chantelle Atkins was fearing would happen did in fact take place after Monday's episode of the BBC soap.

The character is at the centre of a distressing storyline, suffering physical abuse at the hands of her husband Gray.

He's been controlling her to the point she needs his permission to simply go to work, and if she doesn't obey him he brutally attacks her.

On Monday, Chantelle was stuck at work with boss Kheerat Panesar after a powercut.

She was clearly worried about not having her phone on her, and what her husband might do to her for not being home.

Of course it wasn't her fault that she was stuck at work, and as soon as the power returned she raced home.

She then watched through her window as Gray also returned to the Square, having just saved Whitney Dean from her kidnapping ordeal.

As a terrified Chantelle peered through the blinds, Gray gave her a look that left fans fearing he would hurt her again.

While the episode ended, viewers were right to fear for Chantelle as she was brutally attacked again in unfilmed scenes.

Tuesday's episode saw Chantelle sporting new bruises on her stomach the next day, with her clearly in pain.

Gray had no remorse for his actions and even appeared to blame her, as he cruelly reminded her to have her phone on her next time she left the house.

Chantelle even felt she needed to ask for permission to go to work, which he agreed she could.

Fans now hope she might continue to confide in Kheerat, and that he might learn the truth.

One fan said on Twitter : "Watching the control Grey has over Chantelle is almost as disturbing as the physical abuse #EastEnders."

Another tweeted: "Damn, so Gray did attack Chantelle last night."

A third added: "Control freak gray can’t believe Chantelle even got to ask him can she go to work today."

This was echoed by a fourth viewer who said: "Imagine having to ask your husband if you can go to work (cause he owns you or thinks he owns you)."

EastEnders airs Mondays at 8pm, and Tuesdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
