EastEnders confirms comeback date and Stacey Fowler's dramatic return

EastEnders has confirmed the date it will be finally back on our screens after the 12-week lockdown break.

The BBC revealed the soap will be back on from Monday September 7th, after the coronavirus pandemic forced the show to stop filming, and it ran out of episodes.

Not only that, but Stacey Fowler (Lacey Turner) will also be making a comeback as she returns to Walford to deal with her ailing mother Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) and her estranged husband Martin (James Bye).

The soap will be back on our screens four times a week with 20-minute long episodes in what has been dubbed "series two" of the explosive soap.

A post on EastEnders' official Facebook page teased: "Like the rest of the UK the residents of Walford have been adjusting to a new way of life since the Covid-19 pandemic swept the nation but after nearly 3 months away, the drama from Albert Square will be returning to BBC One.

"However with things returning to normal for the residents of Walford, that can only mean one thing – drama is set to follow."

The cast and crew will remain socially distanced, meaning the scenes will feature actors standing two metres apart, as is happening currently with Coronation Street and Emmerdale.

Lacey's return comes as Martin has been embarking on a new relationship with Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton).

Money has recently been mysteriously leaving Ruby's bank account, and as she tries to resolve the issue - matters only get worse.

Meanwhile, Denise Fox will be facing "dark things" from her past resurfacing, actress Diane parish revealed on Secrets From The Square.

Executive Producer Jon Sen said: “From the moment we turned the lights out in The Queen Vic our ambition was to come back with a bang and this autumn certainly does that.

“As soon as Albert Square reawakens the drama returns at a pace and, although working within social distancing guidelines has certainly given us some new challenges, I am incredibly proud of what everyone has achieved.

"The show is looking fantastic and we can’t wait for “series two” to begin…”.
