EastEnders confirms Bobby Beale return as new actor takes on role

One of EastEnders’ youngest ever villains is returning to the BBC soap very soon, with Bobby Beale making a comeback to Walford.

The character accidentally killed his sister Lucy Beale when he was just 10 years old, then played by child actor Eliot Carrington.

Now, the role has been recast with an older Bobby confirmed to be returning to Walford this summer.

He’s set to cause a stir three years on, with Lucy’s murder, and the fact several residents were suspected over her death, still playing heavily on the minds of those in Albert Square.

Actor Clay Milner Russell will portray the role, with this marking his TV debut.

Speaking of the casting, EastEnders’ Executive Producer Jon Sen said: “Clay’s an exciting new talent with a charisma and an intensity that injects a new energy into the fascinating character of Bobby Beale.

“We can’t wait for audiences to see Bobby return home and the impact his arrival will have on the Square.”

His dad Ian Beale and grandmother Kathy were rocked to learn Bobby would be released from prison soon.

Bobby had also attacked his stepmother Jane Beale, almost killing her before his exit, despite her covering up his crime.

He actually had no idea until almost two years on that he’d killed his sister, with the murder taking place after a row.

Bobby threw a jewellery box at Lucy’s head, killing her, and after calling Jane he went to bed believing his sibling was alive, not realising the extent of how badly he’d hurt her.

Jane moved the body and didn’t tell anyone until all was revealed to the Beales in a live episode a year later, with the whole of Walford then learning the truth in 2016.

Viewers will have to stay tuned to find out when Bobby returns, and how residents will react to him being back.

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
