EastEnders' Clair Norris finishes work on 'second job' after taking break from soap

Clair Norris has already finished filming her "second job" since taking a break from EastEnders.

The actress - who plays Bernie Taylor on the BBC One soap - announced she was briefly stepping away from her soap role amid a huge surrogacy storyline.

Speculation was rife that Clair might be leaving for good, but her break from the soap is just temporary and was planned by show bosses, sources confirmed to The Mirror at the time.

Clair has now finished work on one of her new jobs and took to Instagram to share the exciting news.

Sharing a snap of herself pulling down her mask and revealing her excited face, she tagged her management company and wrote atop the short clip: "Filming for job 2 finished!"

Clair previously explained how Bernie is likely feeling "overwhelmed" by everything going on.

The character is currently pregnant after being paid to be a surrogate for Rainie Cross (Tanya Franks) and Stuart Highway (Ricky Champ).

However, she has been growing increasingly close to the unborn baby and she is worried Rainie has gone back to taking drugs again.

The couple used Bernie's eggs so she will need to sign the rights to the baby over to them, otherwise they have no right to the tot.

Speaking about her exit, Clair explained: "I think that Bernie is overwhelmed with everything and definitely needs some time away to clear her head.

"She needs a break. I think it will do her good to get away and take care of herself and the baby for a bit. That's her number one priority.

"We know Bernie will be returning to Walford, but who knows what she will be coming back to? She knows how much this is going to hurt Stuart and Rainie, but Bernie is determined to put the baby first."

Bernie asks for help in securing a drug test to see if Rainie is back on drugs, but it leaves Rainie in a panic as she has been taking sleeping pills. The test turns out negative but Bernie is still suspicious.

"Bernie thinks the worst and expects the test to be positive after Rainie’s change in behaviour and seeing her with what she thinks to be a dealer," Clair said.

"She genuinely believes that’s what is happening in front of her and jumps to conclusions rather seeing the bigger picture. Finding out the test is negative is a real shock but something still doesn’t sit right in her."
