EastEnders' Callum Highway feared dead after escape from Keanu leads to disaster

EastEnders viewers were left in turmoil, as Callum Highway entered the running for possible characters being killed off this week.

It's been confirmed a character will die amid a horrifying boat crash, while events away from the Thames have hinted it might not even be on the boat that someone loses their life.

The scenes unfolding around the same time have seen a boat crash into a dock, caused by Phil Mitchell and Keanu Taylor - while Callum finally freed himself of the chains after being kidnapped by Keanu last week.

Mick and Linda Carter are trapped on the boat, with Dennis also trapped.

Ian and Ben were both scene struggling in the water, with new scenes teasing Callum might be the one to die after an accident.

Ben was on the boat to stop dad Phil killing Keanu, needing information on his boyfriend Callum's whereabouts.

Keanu had gone there to find Dennis, only for Phil to track him down and a fight ensued.

But Phil heard from Shirley Carter that Callum was not at the location Keanu had claimed.

Callum was there, be unbeknown to everyone else he'd made it out of his chains and made his bid to escape.

Just as he thought he'd found an exit though, he fell from a height into a skip below, not realising he was walking into an opening.

He remained unconscious, trapped and now fighting for his life as Shirley left believing Keanu was lying.

Fans raced to Twitter over the scenes, fearing the worst as both Callum and boyfriend Ben Mitchell fought for their lives.

One fan commented: "If Callum dies because of all of the unfortunate circumstances and little mishaps, it would fit the Greek tragedy description."

Another said: "I have the worst feeling that callum’s not gunna survive but like callum’s not gunna die right? right!?"

A third added: "If bens on the boat soaking wet does that mean callum dies?"

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
