EastEnders boss drops major hint over 'mystery' surrounding Stacey Fowler's return

EastEnders boss Jon Sen has teased Stacey Fowler's dramatic return to Walford as she is set to confront her best friend Ruby Allen.

Actress Lacey Turner will be making a comeback this autumn after leaving the BBC soap to go on maternity leave last year.

Stacey is set to discover that her estranged husband Martin Fowler has not only slept with pal Ruby - but has been living with her throughout lockdown.

And to say that she is upset about that would be an understatement.

Teasing her return, Jon told the Mirror and other news outlets: "The big one [to look forward to] is Stacey – we have been waiting for her to come back.

"Lacey is amazing and part of  EastEnders  history and we have really missed her energy in the Slaters so the first two weeks we tease a mystery – where is Stacey?

"Are all of these things on the going on the Square to do with her? Then she's back with a bang.

"There are some fantastic Ruby Vs Stacey scenes – and we can't wait to find out what Stacey does when she discovers what has been going on between Martin and Ruby. As a return that is a big moment."

This comes after actor James Bye, who plays Martin, teased that Martin and Ruby's relationship has grown during lockdown.

"We've seen Martin and Ruby starting to get a little bit close, so that just continues, the relationship grows...

"They lockdown together and, by the sounds of it, they get on. That's all I'm saying. Things happen."

He also confirmed that Martin was set for a huge upcoming storyline.

"We've got some information... the hairs went up on my arm – and that's just the story that I'm involved in," he said.
