EastEnders airs turmoil for Ben and Lola as daughter Lexi struck by car

EastEnders' Ben Mitchell and Lola Pearce were left in turmoil on Friday, as young daughter Lexi was hit by a car.

She was accidentally run over by a customer at the Car Lot, who was complaining about a car he'd bought the previous day.

Ben recently suffered almost complete hearing loss in the boat crash, and has been struggling with not being able to hear.

He stepped outside for the first time in days in the latest episode of the BBC soap, to spend some time with little Lexi.

She lifted his mood as she taught him some sign language, helping him to communicate.

But events soon took a worrying turn after Ben spotted an angry man outside the Car Lot.

He tried to figure out what was going on but was unable to hear - as the man continued to scream at him.

Eventually Ben decided to walk away and beckoned little Lexi to go with him.

The man then started screaming abuse at Ben, calling him and his family thieves, but he didn't hear.

Lexi did though, and not happy with what he was doing she decided to confront him, racing behind his huge 4x4 to have her say.

But the driver didn't hear as he was already in the car and starting the engine, with Ben also unaware she was no longer next to him.

It's then that Lexi's mum Lola was walking along and saw the tragedy about to unfold as Lexi remained behind the now moving car.

Her face told Ben all he needed to know that his little girl was in danger, with him spinning around but it was too late and the car hit Lexi.

Lola screamed out and ran over to her while Ben remained traumatised, not having heard the danger she was in.

Luckily Lexi was okay and suffered only cuts and bruises as the car was going slowly.

But Ben was horrified and left feeling super guilty about what happened, blaming himself because he couldn't hear the car or Lexi.

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
