EastEnders airs exit for Bex Fowler as character bows out in emotional scenes

EastEnders aired emotional scenes for the Fowlers on Friday night, as Bex left Walford for a new adventure.

The teen has had a troubling time in Walford over the past year, with her making an attempt on her own life amid fears over her future.

While Bex did get back on track, just weeks ago she turned to drugs and ended up collapsing after taking contaminated pills.

After the boat crash, which claimed the life of Dennis Rickman, Bex decided it was time for her to focus on her future.

She got in contact with an old school friend who is currently travelling, and she had an offer for her.

Jade asked Bex if she wanted to join her in Australia, and then do some further travelling together.

Bex jumped at the chance, ready to take a leap of faith.

But her parents Sonia and Martin Fowler weren't so keen given her recent troubles.

Martin eventually accepted her plans, but worried mum Sonia stole her passport to try and stop her.

As the family had words with her about her meddling, she finally saw sense.

In a heart-to-heart she gave Bex her blessing to leave, leading to the teen packing her things and making a speedy exit.

She shared a final goodbye with her parents at the tube station, before heading off alone for her new adventure.

Martin joked their daughter, who was born on the show back in 2000, would be back within weeks.

This won't be the case of course, as actress Jasmine Armfield has left the role after nearly six years.

The actress announced her departure earlier in the year, with Friday night marking her final episode.

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
