EastEnders' Adam Woodyatt living in a motorhome in a field after split from wife

Adam Woodyatt has changed his life completely since his split from Beverley Sharp, his wife of 22 years.

The 52-year-old EastEnders legend is taking time out from playing Ian Beale, after 36 years as the character in Albert Square.

The actor hasn't revealed when he will be returning to the BBC soap and he is currently living the country life by staying in a motorhome in Devon.

After years living and filming in and around London, Adam has said that he is now loving his time living "in a field".

Speaking on Zoe Ball’s Radio 2 breakfast show on Tuesday, Adam revealed that he is enjoying time away from the soap and his previous life, as he embraces a newly grown beard and the opportunity to cycle around Devon's villages.

He said: “I am loving my break, I’m having a ball. I’m getting ready for the tour which was supposed to have started in January, then it was supposed to start in April and then it was supposed to start in June - it keeps getting knocked back.

“But basically I’m in a motorhome.

“I’ve got a motorhome ready for the tour so I won’t have to worry about staying in hotels or anything like that.

“But I’ve taken advantage of it and I’m currently in a field in Devon.”

Adam had confirmed his split from his wife in August last year, with his rep revealing that the couple had split up the year before.

They were married in 1998 and have two grown-up children - Jessica and Samuel.

Adam has been bringing in between £200,000 and £249,000 a year for playing Ian Beale but he got permission to have an open-ended holiday as he was written out of the soap in January.

His next acting role will be in the adaptation of Peter James' crime novel, Looking Good Dead.

He told Zoe Ball: “It’s a cracking tour. My only complaint is seeing as I’m the driver of said motorhome… at one point we’ve got to go from Edinburgh to Brighton.”
