East Yorkshire firm's multi-million pound contract win to provide Covid test centres

Premier Modular is to provide 25 standalone Covid-19 testing centres to be deployed across the UK.

The multi-million pound contract follows the off-site construction of 1,700 sq m of buildings for the new Nightingale Hospital in Exeter.

A first 110 sq m testing facility arrived in Bolton, this week - and was open for testing within 24 hours - with a second heading for Portsmouth.

David Harris, managing director, said: “We are very pleased to be playing our part in the national effort to support the NHS in increasing testing capacity in the current pandemic.

“This is a fantastic example of how modular construction can help the NHS respond to changing local needs and an urgent requirement to rapidly increase capacity.”

The majority of the hire fleet units will be delivered by the end of October, having been procured through Crown Commercial Service.

The Brandesburton team provides detailed logistical planning and project management, providing all the facilities required for each test centre.

A unit includes offices, staff welfare including canteen and toilets, and electric, water and waste services.

Premier specialises in off-site construction, with a track record in health and an emerging role in housing.

It has recently won two significant emergency accommodation contracts, in High Wycombe and Barking.
