East Yorkshire firm Grotech invests in future with new equipment

An East Yorkshire business which is going “from strength to strength” has invested in new equipment as it eyes up future growth.

Grotech Production Ltd, based in Goole, works in the agrochemical industry, and specialises in contract manufacturing and packing.

As the business continues to thrive, Grotech has invested £20,000 in new machinery and equipment as it aims to keep up with increasing demand from customers.

Stephen Moore, operations director at Grotech, said: “As a business Grotech continues to go from strength to strength and we are busier than ever.

“As a whole the new equipment will enable us to meet the growing needs of our customers more efficiently while the vacuum sack lifter will also significantly reduce the manual handling risks for our staff when dealing with heavy sacks of raw materials and finished products.”

Grotech develops and produces specialist bespoke powder, granule and liquid formulations.

The company was originally founded in 1977 as Protech Formulations, before Grotech was created in 2002 to support the business.

In 2005, Grotech constructed a purpose-built 12,000sq.ft factory at Britannia Road, Goole, as it scaled up its operations.

Today, the firm continues to work with a number of ‘Blue Chip’ companies, along with smaller businesses, in the formulation and packing of powders and granules.

The new £20,000 investment has seen Grotech purchase a new reach truck, a vacuum sack lifter and replacement weighing scales.

This is on top of other investments over the last four years, including updating its fleet of forklift trucks.

Mr Moore said: “We pride ourselves on our weighing accuracy and decided to expand the selection of scales available to our team.”

The new equipment will bring added operational efficiencies to the business as well as, in the case of the vacuum sack lifter, numerous health and safety benefits.

The reach truck, supplied by Neckar Forklifts in Castleford, is used in Grotech’s warehouse to enable pallets to be stored on racking at heights of up to eight metres.

It replaces a vehicle which the company was previously hiring, providing improved energy efficiency and better access through the factory therefore saving time and improving productivity.

The vacuum sack lifter, supplied by Chesterfield-based Palamatic, uses a suction mechanism to take the strain off Grotech’s operators when moving around heavy sacks of product.

In 2017, Grotech enjoyed success at the Humber Renewables Awards, when it won the ‘Rising Star’ award.

The business has now invested in its future, as it looks to stay ahead of the competition.
