East Yorkshire executive development is a debut in the domestic market for Hull construction company

A luxury home development overlooking the Yorkshire Wolds is being delivered by a Hull construction company.

Zenith Developments Group is behind the high-specification build at Pocklington, having bought the land during lockdown.

With planning consent for four homes lapsed, managing director Calum Preston applied to update the design, bringing cutting edge contemporary home-building to the fore.

Now the build is well underway, with completion eyed for later this year.

Mr Preston, who founded the business six years ago, operates predominantly in the commercial sphere, and counts Aldi and the NHS as clients.

The company is behind several high profile builds at Hull Royal Infirmary, including the award-winning Allam Diabetes Centre.

He said: The previous planning permission was for homes in the style of the existing houses currently within the area, which were built in the Nineties. How we live in our homes now has changed and as such, the houses need a full overhaul and bringing up to current standards.

“As a business, we went back to the drawing board and produced what we believe is an outstanding re-design of the previous approved scheme.

“East Riding Council loved the designs, and pushed permission through.”

The houses are executive five-bed homes with huge windows and curtain walling sections which maximise the views, spanning the nearby Kilnwick Percy golf course, and the picturesque Vale of York – a favourite scene for the revered Yorkshire artist David Hockney.

Zenith turned to fellow Hull firm EYG to support the bespoke requirements.

Mr Preston said: “The homes have fantastic views over Pocklington and the Wolds, which are maximised by the huge windows in all of the bedrooms and the curtain walling to the large first floor landing area.

“We’ve really tried to make the most of the views, with EYG’s assistance, and we’ve managed to create something that will be an incredible development and a benchmark for surrounding housing developments.

“We are looking forward to completing this project. This is our first housing development on a very challenging piece of land, at one of the most prominent parts of Pocklington.

“The business is looking to expand the residential division, and create more bespoke developments.”

Pocklington is described as an area where demand will outstrip supply.

Dave Hargraves, design office manager at EYG Commercial, worked closely with Mr Preston and the Zenith construction team on the development, manufacturing and fitting windows, curtain walling, doors and roof lights - all in slate grey.

Interest in the properties is being managed by Sweetmove Estate Agents of Pocklington.
