East Wall recycling centre trashed as Dublin City Council plead with public

Dublin City Council have pleaded with residents not to dump rubbish at recycling centres after an East Wall bottle and clothes bank was trashed.

The Council posted a picture of the scene at the bank from over the weekend, showing rubbish, paper, electrical equipment, and clothes strewn across the wet ground in front of a big bin.

The Council said that they were happy to see more recycling, but were dismayed at the facility was being left littered.

And they asked locals to "dispose of your alternative litter in a respectable and appropriate manner" instead of dumping it at the centre.

The full post read: "This was the scene at East Wall clothing recycling facility over the weekend.

"Our recycling facilities have proved that more and more people are indeed recycling their clothes and bottles which is great news for recycling and sustainability.

"We would ask you to use the facilities for their sole purpose and to dispose of your alternative litter in a respectable and appropriate manner.

"Please respect your community and together we can keep our facilities and streets clean and safe.

"To report illegal dumping Freephone 1800248348. You can also email litter.central@dublincity.ie or customerservices@dublincity.ie. Alternatively, to speak with a Customer Services agent call 01 222 2222 or report online at: https://www.dublincity.ie/.../report-litter-or-pollution."
