East of Scotland place an 'honour' for Stoneyburn boss

Stoneyburn gaffer Steven Sharp is looking forward to next season but admits there’s some sadness at leaving Junior football.

The Fulshie will become a senior football club for the first time as they prepare for their maiden East of Scotland Football League campaign.

He commented: “It’s a great achievement, to know that you’re going to be part of the SFA pyramid is an honour really.

“It’s a double-edged sword because it’s great that we’re moving into the future but at the same time it’s sad that it means the end of Junior football.

“As a club, we’ve been very proud of our Junior status over the years, but from the point of view in terms of moving forward , it’s definitely a great opportunity.”

The gaffer, who took charge after the end of the 2018/19 campaign, is looking to make his team as competitive as possible in next season’s new surroundings and hopes the fans are back at Beechwood Park to start the new era for
the club.

He said: “The ambitions are to go challenge and progress as much as we can. I want to put as strong a side out as possible in order to compete.

“Fans are what help keep the club running.

“They bring money through the gate, they buy pies, they buy their snacks, all of that helps us out.

“They’ll be able to see on social media the work that we’re putting in and I feel sorry that they’ve not been able to see it in person yet.

“We can’t wait for them to see the hard work we’ve put in and I hope to implement a style that will give the fans something to enjoy.”
